In the Municipality of Arzignano, in the province of Vicenza, innovation has become a fundamental tool to fight crime.

On 16 October 2021, a new video surveillance operations room was inaugurated at the Local Police, thanks to the collaboration with Axians Italia, Targa System and Avigilon.

This plant, which saw the participation of local and regional authorities, is the result of a project that began in 2016 and continued with subsequent updates to become a model of urban security.

The main objectives of the project were the implementation of a fibre optic network, the strengthening of contextual video surveillance and the introduction of advanced systems for reading license plates.
Since then, the Municipality has seen the number of cameras and gates grow progressively, reaching 29 Targa System gates and 42 cameras distributed throughout the territory, monitoring strategic areas such as squares and parking lots.

The impact of these technologies has been significant:

  • a reduction in criminal acts, with a 23% decrease in crimes between 2017 and 2020;
  • a continuous decline in thefts, which have dropped by 80% in the last decade.

Thanks to this project, Arzignano has become a virtuous example of a safe city, attractive for companies that choose to invest in the area, and a point of reference for innovation in the management of public safety.
